Luxury Chalet Machapuchare - Val d'Isère - setting new standards in luxury and style. This wonderful luxury chalet is built for big families or groups with five stories of elegance and excellence to enjoy. Fourteen guests can sleep in ultimate comfort in Chalet Machapuchare’s seven bedrooms. And while this is a chalet in which it’s a pleasure to spend time, it’s perfectly placed for getting out and about and discovering why Val d'Isére isn’t just famed for its wonderful winter sports, but also for some of the most sophisticated dining, shopping, and socializing in Europe.

In Le Crêt, a secluded hamlet, Chalet Machapuchare, overlooks the famous village and out to the Alps from its south-facing balconies. The La Daille lift is 2 minutes’ drive away, the Solaise Express and L’Olympique 3 minutes, and to get to the center of the village takes around the same time, courtesy of your chauffeur. The chalet’s lower-ground floor is the way in, either via the shared garage or from the slopes to a private ski room.

Lift access whisks you up to a ground floor dedicated to taking it easy. A world-class spa is built around a swimming pool with counter current to give you a proper workout. A gym offers more work-out options, while a hammam (a North African steam room) and massage room will steam out any aches and pains you have. Once you’re chilled out then settle down on the big sofa in front of the enormous cinema screen.

There is more water to be enjoyed outside, where a large hot tub enjoys wonderful views of the mountains from its garden perch. Huge open-plan living and dining spaces take up the second floor. Soaring ceilings allow vast expanses of glass to open up the views and bring light flooding in on the elegant, understated and completely modern interior. A wood fire is a focal point, and a large balcony gets you closer to the world famous Alpine slopes outside while you enjoy a sunny morning coffee or a starlit nightcap.

With so much room, and several distinct spaces including a bar, the instinct in this room will be to entertain and to enjoy time together. But whether you want privacy or company, crowds or intimacy Chalet Machapuchare has the right ambience for you. Dining is the center-piece occasion of most evenings, and Chalet Machapuchare gives you a fittingly grand setting for your meals served to its huge but elegant dining table from a kitchen that can be opened to allow to watch your chefs at work. The sleeping accommodation is spread throughout the chalet.

The rooms everyone will want to nab are the superb top-floor master doubles, both with a mezzanine balcony over the living room, one with an exterior terrace. Both are en-suite, one with shower room and separate bath tub, the other with a bathroom. On the first floor, a family suite combines a twin/double with a single-bed room sharing a bathroom and a balcony. Two more twin/double rooms have balcony access on this floor, and the fourth room is en-suite without balcony access. The final room is on the lower ground floor, perfect for grabbing a swim before breakfast, a double with en-suite shower room.

Chalet Machapuchare is adjoined by a sister property, with which it shares a garage.

Infos/Activities

Our luxury ski chalets in Val d'Isère are available catered and self-catered, for the best luxury ski holidays ever. Some are Ski in/Ski out and many have swimming pools, sauna, hammam and hot tubs. Val d'Isère is located only five kilometres from Italy, on the border of the Vanoise National Park, created in 1963.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski resort Val d'Isère in the Savoie region of France, is a colourful winter sports haven that began as a farm community in the years B.C. The town received parish rights in 1637 and the parish church, which is still a landmark in the town centre, was built in 1664.

The charming village finds its 1,800 residents outnumbered 15 to one by guests in winter. The western and central areas of Val d'Isère are most recognizable by their "chalet" architecture, while in the eastern part of the town high-rise architecture dominates the landscape.

Along with nearby purpose-built Tignes the area forms part of the Espace Killy, the self-titled "Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World". Named for Olympic hero Jean-Claude Killy, who grew up in Val d'Isère, Val is the better-known part of the skiing region and one of the best ski destinations in the French Alps.

The Val d'Isère village is long and thin at the bottom of a deep V-shaped valley. As you approach the resort you pass by Lac du Chevril, under which the old town of Tignes (sunk in 1952) is found. You then enter Val d'Isère via La Daille where the Olympic downhill run finishes. This is a very popular way for skiers to leave the mountain on Val d'Isère holidays, as it is directly below the greatest après ski party in France at Folie Douce. The ski down at closing time is riotous but only recommended for strong intermediates and above. The Pissaillas Glacier offers summer skiing, as well as the usual winter fare.

SKIING IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski slopes themselves are equipped with a high-volume gondola, able to transport standing skiers, the funicular Funival from La Daille via a tunnel to the top of Bellevarde, traditional chair lifts - some with windshields and many detachable, button/disc-pulls - and tow-ropes. There are both groomed slopes and backcountry (off-piste) skiing. The slopes' difficulty levels are particularly high. However, as in Tignes there are grand, easy  pistes as well. It is first class off-piste country for powder addicts and there are many good guides available.
