Description

This exquisite penthouse apartment is the cherry on top of a recently completed chalet that stands out as the first building to be built in the exclusive hamlet of St Christoph - part of St Anton and one of the highest ski resorts in Austria - in the last 50 years. Above and beyond this feat, Skyfall penthouse is a truly outstanding home that fuses, with absolute grace, new and old-world design, embraces texture and pattern, and delights in its attention to detail with bespoke furnishings and finishings throughout.

Set over two floors, Skyfall Penthouse, is a true ski in property, in fact the unique design of the building means that it is literally set into the mountainside ensuring that returning skiers simply step inside off the slope. Alternatively the penthouse is accessed by a lift from the ground floor bringing you directly into the apartment and to the same point as if you ski into the property.

The entrance area introduces you to the apartment’s continuous theme of rustic charm juxtaposed with contemporary flair. The walls are clad in a visually-stunning and unique design of wooden bricks. To your left  is the ski and bootroom where century-old re-purposed wood panelling and punchy art and furnishings make a statement. There is also a guest wc here. Beyond the bootroom is a single staff bedroom with ensuite shower room.  A short passageway leads into the living area or enter the kitchen to the right of the entrance.

The well-equipped kitchen is bright and tastefully completed with dark marble counter-tops and engaging contemporary artworks which adorn one wall. It leads into the dining area and there is the option for these two rooms to be divided by a glass-panelled sliding door, increasing guests’ privacy. The dining table seats ten around a gorgeous solid wood table. Enter the living room through one of two doorways leading off the dining room. This simply gorgeous room draws guests in with its large open-fire place and offers ample seating in a large L-shaped sofa or one of two elegant arm chairs.

The daylight pours into this room through the many windows,  affording spectacular mountain views, but curtains drawn at night transform it into a sumptuous and cosy room in which to enjoy a glass of champagne and relive the day’s adventures. A cinema with large screen and Apple technology completes the lower floor. A staircase at the entrance area leads to the sleeping quarters upstairs as well as the  hamman and sauna. The hamman is a bold design of emerald green mosaic  tiles and the sauna is greatly enhanced by the windows providing rejuvinating light and discrete views onto the pistes.

The penthouse’s four bedrooms are thoughtfully located at each corner of this floor each affording views that mean no guest is disadvantaged. They are accessed by a corridor which forms an open quadrangle that looks down to the living area below.  The first bedroom is a charming double bunk room with ensuite shower room, ideal for children. Next is the beautiful master bedroom which has a fixed king-sized bed and an ensuite  bath and shower room with a roll-top bath and a rain shower and double sinks. The bedroom is adorned with photographs and memorabilia from Mount Everest. The third bedroom has a fixed king-sized bed and  ensuite bathroom with Antartica being the chosen theme destination for this room. The fourth bedroom is a fixed twin room with ensuite bathroom and windows looking down to the ski hill. All rooms have built-in cupboards.

Guests at Skyfall Penthouse are offered free utilisation of all facilities at the Hospiz Hotel, which include a full spa and swimming pool as well as childcare.. This stunning hotel which is less than a five-minute stroll away, is also home to five distinct and unique restaurants, each with a different theme, giving self-catered guests considerable choice for dining options over the course of a week's stay.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN ST ANTON

For such a well-known ski resort, the village itself is surprisingly small and compact. Its pedestrianised main street offers a wide choice of cafés, bars and good quality traditional and international restaurants as well as street offers a wide choice of cafés, bars and good quality traditional and international restaurants. St Anton am Arlberg is the ski capital of Austria and one of Europe's best ski resorts. There are plenty of good dining options in St. Anton, and a walk through the village at night reveals a buzzing choice of bars and clubs with around 70 restaurants to choose from. The resort is a long, sprawling mixture of traditional and modern buildings crammed into a narrow valley. It used to sandwiched between a busy road and the mainline railway - but the railway was moved before the start of the 2000/2001 World Championship season, and this area is landscaped into a park and ice rink. St Anton is full of character, its traffic-free main street lined by traditional-style buildings. It is an attractively bustling place, day and night.

SKIING IN ST ANTON

Reliable snowfall and challenging skiing make St  Anton and the Arlberg a holy grail for advanced skiers but there is plenty of fun to be had by less experienced skiers and boarders too. St Anton is also renowned for great party atmosphere on and off the slopes, with several famous après ski bars strategically placed on the lower runs back to the village and a huge range of après-ski to choose from down in town. The Arlberg ski area and ski pass also include the ski resorts Lech and Zurs. The skiing and snowboarding terrain at St Anton consists of wide open treeless powder bowls, steep cliff drops and tight chutes, massive moguls, boundless linking groomed trails and gentle beginner areas. All the terrain is supported by a fast and efficient lift system. St Anton offers top quality skiing and boarding at high altitude with some of the best off-piste runs in Austria that are best tackled with a local guide. Steep and deep or mogulled runs off the top of the resort are what attracts the St Anton enthusiasts.

An award-winning new high speed lift recently replaced the Galzig Cable Car from the resort centre making access into the main area much quicker and there are some superb runs for keen intermediates. Whilst there are some beginner slopes directly above the resort, the area is best suited to strong intermediates and experts who will relish the challenge of St Anton’s steeper slopes whether covered in powder or bumps (fresh snow tracks out quickly). With the resorts of Lech, Zurs, Stuben and St Christoph all covered on the Ski Arlberg lift pass, there is no shortage of challenging skiing and snowboarding in this vast area. Snowboarders will also love the terrain as well as the half-pipe and freestyle park.
