Luxury Ski Chalets Chamois
With Ski in/out
The small village of Chamois in the Aosta Valley is the perfect place to explore the authenticity of an unspoiled mountain landscape, set on the natural and sunny terrace of the Valtournenche Valley at 1,800 meters altitude. It was decided in 1955 not to build a road that would connect the village to the valley. Our luxury ski chalet is only reachable by cable car that leaves from Buisson, or through a small altiport - the oldest in Italy - with small ultralight aircraft or helicopter. In warmer periods it's possible to reach Chamois by walking along the historic mule track that has 93 harpin bends and connects Chamois and Buisson.
This decision has allowed Chamois to become part of the circuit of the "Alpine Pearls", mountain resorts that promote soft mobility and environmental protection. The ideal place to spend exclusive holidays surrounded by nature - with typical wood and stone chalets, small cobblestone streets and old barns. Here, you can breathe the atmosphere of bygone times, a place to slow down and to enjoy life and the beauty of nature with awareness and respect for the environment. A place suitable for everyone and for those looking for a unique location, away from the hustle and bustle and daily routine.
Aosta Valley is surrounded by the highest peaks in the Alps - Monte Bianco, Matterhorn, Monte Rosà and Gran Paradiso. Thanks to 200 kilometres of groomed slopes and countless off-piste Chamois is part of the Cervino Ski Paradise, one of the biggest skiing domains across the Alpine mountain range. The vastness of the area is due to the skiable connections between Cervinia, Valtournenche and Zermatt, the popular holiday resort in the Swiss Alps. Here, it is possible to ski the whole day without taking the same piste twice with marvellous views over the iconic Cervino mountain. Its altitude of 3,500 metres and year-round snow-covered slopes ensure that it is even possible to strap on your skis on the Plateau Rosà glacier during the summer months.
In addition to the off-piste routes to the Cheneil basin, car-free Chamois offers 16 kilometres of groomed pistes of varying difficulties, reaching an altitude of 2,498m at Le Point Sublime. Wide open spaces and gentle slopes to delight both skiers and snowboarders. Definitely recommendable for ski tourers are those impressive routes to Becca di Nana and Becca Trecaré. And for winter sports enthusiasts who prefer cross-country skiing, there is a 5,5km scenic loop that leads to the beautiful village of La Magdeleine.
To experience a moment of relaxation and enjoy the hushed atmosphere of snowy places, always in close contact with the mountain scenery, snowshoeing trails will take winter holidayers into the silence of nature and beguiling dimensions.
For hiking or mountain bike excursions lots of trails of incomparable beauty and extraordinary backgrounds are accessible during the warmer months. Waterfalls, lakes and glaciers make this valley an enchanting place to fully immerse into the Alpine landscape.
RESTAURANTS & BARS
Once you have arrived and explored Chamois, take a break at Café Brasserie Le Coin du Paradis. Dominating the village square, the Valle d'Aosta-style restaurant is decorated in an Alpine feel. Large outdoor terrace - sun-kissed from morning to evening. Very professional staff, the raw materials used are of high quality. Broad selection of aperitifs to savour in the deckchairs.
At Chez Pierina the passion for traditional, genuine cuisine has been handed down from mother to daughter for half a century. Opened in 1975 the intertwining of stone and wood inside blends perfectly into the Alpine ambience. The kitchen follows the motto that love is like good cooking, that special things always come from simple ingredients, but are made magical by imagination. The warmth and homely welcome make the restaurant ideal for all ski and mountain aficionados. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Da Bruno, which overlooks Lake Lod, can be reached on foot in about 30-40 minutes from the small square in Chamois, or during the opening periods by chairlift and with skis and snowshoes.
