Description

The location of luxury ski chalet Sapphire is one of a kind. Minutes from the centre of Morzine the gated grounds offer exceptional access to the ski area as well as privacy and stunning views. Plus, only a 5 minute level walk to the bars, restaurants and boutiques of the village centre.

The closest ski lift, Super Morzine, is just 500m away, taking less than 5 minutes in a chauffeured vehicle. The high altitude skiing of Avoriaz is best accessed from the Prodains Telepherique which is a 5 minute drive. Chalet Sapphire enjoys easy access to both Les Gets and Avoriaz, part of the gigantic Portes du Soleil winter sports domain - one of the largest ski areas in the world.

The main chalet with 835qm can accommodate 12 guests in six bedrooms en-suite. Together with "Little Gem", adding 135sqm of living space, the compound forms "Chalet Sapphire Gem". Adjoining "Little Gem" can be rented with two bedrooms for 4 guests at additional cost. Holiday chalet Sapphire offers a very chic and stylish Alpine interior with fantastic views across the Portes du Soleil mountains.

To unwind after a day on the slopes the living area with fireplace is the perfect place. Adjacent to the main living area is the dining room, set around a large handmade Balinese teak table. An inset balcony frames yet another stunning view towards the Pointe de Nyon. There’s a professional closed kitchen for the ‘serious’ work, and an open show kitchen for service and chef demonstrations. From here your chef will serve stunning contemporary cuisine.

There is bar with pool table and TV, large windows open directly onto the large terrace - a wonderful place to watch the sun set. Watch the latest movies in the cima room with digital surround. Behind the bar the professional staff prepare speciality cocktails as well as serving drinks from the Four Bottles Bar menu - there are fine wines, craft beers and a range of speciality gins to sample.

The three stunning Master suites have incredible ceiling heights to show off the exceptional mountain views. Each room has its own USP, some have dressing rooms or freestanding baths and others have walk-in drench showers. There are no short straws here though. Every room has a super-king bed that can split to twin beds as required, so whatever the makeup of your group, you’ll be covered.

The impressive spa and wellness areas are very spacious for a private chalet. It offers an indoor swimming pool with massage and counter current jets as well as a view of the mountains. There is also a hamman, ice chamber and dedicated Bamford Spa where guests can choose from a range of massage and beauty treatments by a Bamford-trained therapist. Wellness at Sapphire isn’t just about relaxation, it is very much seen as a holistic vision which perfectly echoes the modern active lifestyles. Alongside the fantastic spa facilities there is a well equipped gym, and forest trails starting at the foot of the garden.

Outside on the terraces guests can relax in the large hot tub sunken into the deck and the barrel sauna with panoramic views over the resort and chill out around a large fire pit.

"Little Gem" (sleeps 4) is available at extra cost.

Infos/Activities

Morzine is set high in the valley of the River Dranse at an altitude of 1,000m in the Northern Alps. A beautiful Alpine village, Morzine has a bustling centre and is packed with great facilities. With fabulous restaurants and bars, a weekly market, ice rink, swimming pool and ski joering - all perfect for keeping the whole family entertained.

The skiing resort Morzine can be found between Lake Leman and Mont Blanc. Part of the vast Les Portes du Soleil ski area pittoresque Morzine has kept its 11th century Savoyard look where you will find traditional wooden luxury ski chalets with slate roofs which makes you feel like you are in a real Alpine village rather than a large man-made ski resort. Previously ruled over by the Dukes of Savoie it is now part of the Haute Savoie region of France.

Most of the ski resorts in Les Portes du Soleil have grown around traditional valley villages - only Avoriaz and the very small Les Crosets and Torgon were purposely built during the mid-sixties. Morzine and Châtel are the largest of the traditional towns in the area. As a whole the skiing is relatively low in altitude compared to most French destinations.

The highest skiing is just below 2,500 metres and the lowest approximately 900 metres. However, the area is heavily influenced by the microclimate between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, which generates very substantial snowfall between November and April making it possible to keep the area open to skiing typically from early December until mid to late April. Some of the lower stations close around April 1 or earlier depending on snow conditions though.
