Hotel Romazzino / Porto Cervo
Pool: 1
Description
Inspired by a dream to create an incomparable seaside retreat on an exclusive stretch of Sardinia's rugged northeast coast, Prince Karim Aga Khan assembled a team of noted architects in the early 1960s to form the Architectural Committee of Costa Smeralda (quite literally, the Emerald Coast). Famed Italian architect Michele Busiri Vici, considered the father of Mediterranean architecture and already well known throughout Sardinia for his Stella Maris Church in Porto Cervo, joined fellow Italian Luigi Vietti and Frenchman Jacque Couelle to create a posh holiday village for the world's rich and famous.
Here, along a stunning shoreline overlooking enchanting beaches, yacht-filled harbours and jewel-coloured waters that truly are emerald green, the Hotel Romazzino debuted in 1965. Busiri Vici's flowing design of whitewashed rounded walls and terraced arches that haromonise so fluidly with nature received great acclaim and gave the hotel its signature style.
Considered one of the world's most beautiful resorts, Hotel Romazzino was completely restored between 2004 and 2007, an expansive undertaking characterised by mosaic tiles reflecting the bright and happy colours of the Mediterranean Sea and marbles playing to the warm rich textures of the land. All guest rooms feature authentic Sardinian furniture hand-crafted by local artisans. Today, in keeping with its glamorous reputation, Hotel Romazzino shares its prestigious address with the nearby private villa homes of legendary Italian families such as the Agnellis and Pirellis – all quietly hidden amongst the famous cliffs of the Costa Smeralda.
Nestled along Sardinia's fabled Costa Smeralda, the whitewashed architecture of the alluring Hotel Romazzino adorns seaside cliffs kissed by an emerald sea. Opulent gardens scented with wildflowers flow to the pristine shores of the Mediterranean. With an inviting translucent sea famed for its sailing and diving, the Hotel Romazzino is renowned for its endless water play and immaculate beaches. The inspired regional cuisine of Romazzino Restaurant adds to the hotel's international acclaim. Pristine views of the Mediterranean Sea or lush gardens are enjoyed from a private terrace in each of the 94 guest rooms and suites, all passionately restored with handmade tiles and exotic wood furnishings to preserve an authentic Sardinian charm.
Cuisine: Renowned for its creatively interpreted regional specialties, the dining experience at Hotel Romazzino is equal parts culinary discovery and historical journey. The exceptionally diverse cuisines of Sardinia-fresh coastal seafood from local waters; hearty meats and game typical of its rugged interior-reflect the island's rich history with influences from the Phoenicians to the Spanish. Gracious and welcoming service is the standard in all Hotel Romazzino's dining venues and bars, from the elegant Romazzino Restaurant to the intimate Bar Ginepro. With spectacular views of the Costa Smeralda, prepare to be dazzled as you dine on cuisine that will tantalise and enrich your palette.
Lunch is family time, with many parents choosing to spend this part of day with their children. Toy Club staff will also dine with kids at the Ristorante Barbecue in Spiaggia on the beach.
Toy Club dinners are a special time for children as they all dine together in their very own restaurant adjacent to the hotel's main restaurant, Romazzino Restaurant.
